Good News Development Log # 10

New characters, improved shaders, combat improvements, UI and more in our bi-weekly report on the progress for Origins: The Fall of Azoria.

Welcome back to the Good News Dev log Dreamers!

There are some “less” cooperative races in the World of Azoria. One of these groups is called Miyamo.

Miyamo Warrior seems like he's ready for conflict, hope you are too.

“Unfortunately” they’re not the typical evil bent on destruction race that is simply evil for the sake of it, so there’s always a degree of uncertainty how you should approach them. But they will make sure that their interests are fulfilled BEFORE they’ll consider your point of view, so they can be quite antagonistic. So if you see these guys, consider how well you are prepared for combat!

Since mobiles tend to have a little bit of limitation when it comes to their available resources, it’s a continuous back and forth between the “make it look great” vs “make it run smooth”. Luckily our team recently made good progress in getting the “everpresent” grass to not cause unnecessarily high frame drops while still looking great!

Since there will be plenty of possibilities of taking on the enemies, our team is working on making it more of a fun part of the game rather than chore, we’ll keep you updated on its progress!

And here’s a shortlist of additions and updates:

  • Added 3 x variations of Miyamo Male
  • Added 3 x variations of Miyamo Female
  • Added: New grass shader for better look grass that renders fast on mobile
  • Added: System responsible for causing/receiving damage in combat and added damage display
  • Updated: Crystal UI for comparison and equipping
  • Updated: UI for dropping items has a slider new layout
  • Updated: Enemy tracking for smoother and more enjoyable combat
  • Continuing work on: Polishing melee combat

As always, glad we could keep you updated on the progress of our upcoming game Origins: The Fall of Azoria.

Stay tuned for more updates in the future articles, Dreamers!
