Good News Development Log #2

Good News Development Log #2

A bi-weekly summary of our big update on efficiency of the project and game content.

And we’re back with our Good News Dev Log! Our team is working around the clock under the watchful eye of Damian, our lead developer. So you know we’re all in good hands! Let’s see what we’ve got for you this time, shall we?

As it usually happens with moving parts all coming together, some of them will need re-adjustments and corrections. The team focused on resolving any issues that have been caused by it. Let no bug stand in the way of Origins: The Fall of Azoria’s creation for long!

A short list of other technical parts that were implemented and/or improved:

  • Added integration between Unity and with writing tools to import conversations
  • Progressed with syncing in-game items to Web2 systems

As from the fans favourite part of the Dev logs, new additions and improvements to the existing parts of the game!

Part of the crafting process in the game will be “crystal charging”. We’ve done some improvements to the overall mechanics of it, while also updating the UI for visual clarity!

You will notice how the first screen shows how the player can first choose which crystal they wish to recharge (above). And then once they choose the crystal (below) they can select how much they wish to recharge it depending on how much OM they have in their inventory and how much extract they have available to do the recharge.

Recharge Crystals, Life Force Crystal: Work in progress UX design — NOT FINAL PRE ALPHA

The changes we’ve made to the OM icons and general look have already been shown in our previous article about game mechanics. In case you’ve missed it, good news, you can have a look here!

Also on the list of things that have happened:

  • Expanded tutorials
  • Tuned Joystick sensitivity settings
  • Began level design blockouts and substituting environment props
  • Added game pause when Settings screen is opened

Our efforts to bring you into the World Of Origins continue. Be on the lookout for our upcoming Game Mechanics dev log, it’ll focus on crafting concepts of extraction and crystal charging!

See you there, Dreamers!
