A very popular ARPG that made its debut in 2020 and is still going strong. The main selling points are definitely the visuals, characters, exploration and combat gameplay. The game is free-to-play with a gacha system used for monetization. The players can roll for random characters for the in-game currency or unlock them through completing quests and challenges within the game itself. Beware of its addictiveness!
An interesting mix of kingdom building, strategy game and an RPG. You’re playing as a ruler with a simple objective, control everything. Unfortunately every other player in the game has the same objective and it’s up to you to secure resources, heroes and allies to contest your claims and defeat your opponents. You’ll find plenty of PvE challenges mixed with some PvP opportunities on either arenas or raiding other players' kingdoms. Plenty of fun if you’ve got the time to invest.
An action RPG game that has quite a few similarities with Genshin Impact. While Genshin allows you to switch between 4 characters in your party to employ their skills and abilities, Tower of Fantasy instead focuses on your main characters 3 weapon slots that offer alternative strategies when it comes to fighting your opponents.
Another difference is the multiplayer part, Tower of Fantasy allows you to encounter other players if you’re within the same zone but still requires an invite into a party (up to 4) if you wish to complete tasks and explore the world together. Overally, an enjoyable experience to be had.
Another hit from the creators of Genshin Impact, this time as a turn-based RPG. The player plays as a “trailblazer”, travelling between the worlds via Astral Express to counter the evil influence of Stellarons and their allies. JRPG fans will feel right at home with this combat system. The game uses the same gacha system as their previous game (with small differences), so keep your wallet safe!
A spin-off from the popular Monster Hunter series, this time instead of hunting them down, you’re instead trying to capture/tame them. There are some interesting game mechanics involved and it’s all presented in a turn-based combat, so people who are familiar with Pokemon series should be able to jump right in.
Not much to say if you’re familiar with the original Final Fantasy VII game. It’s basically the same thing but on your phone. It’s a very good port overall with some small bugs that shouldn’t get in the way of enjoying the game. For those not familiar with the game, it’s the first JRPG that pushed 3D into the genre. Both cinematics and the game itself, it offers engaging story and memorable characters.
It’s a hearty recommendation for anyone.
The mobile version of the very popular Diablo franchise, it offers what you might expect, action based hack and slash gameplay with plenty of loot to find and enemies to defeat. There are certain parts that make the game a little bit less enjoyable than its older siblings, specifically the P2W(pay to win) and very large emphasis on grinding for items. Other than that, it’s what you’d expect from the Diablo series, get in there and start fighting demons!
For fans of MMORPGs, Albion online is a good choice if you’re into a more sandbox-like experience, rather than a big questline and overarching story. It’s more focused on being part of the community within the world and crafting/buying/selling is an important part of the game economy. It’s very easy to get into with a decent explanation of the game mechanics and an active player base to help out if need be, recommended for MMORPG fans.
Ex Astris is a turn-based game/real time combat hybrid with great visuals, immersive storyline and quite complex combat system. For those who look for a little bit more challenge, Ex Astris is definitely a great choice. The story itself can be a little bit confusing if you’re not paying attention but the world building is quite spot on if you invest time into it.
